Respiratory Tract Infections: Bacteria accumulated in the mouth can cause respiratory tract infections. In particular, oral infections, such as gum disease, can spread to the respiratory tract and contribute to diseases such as bronchitis and pneumonia.
Asthma: Poor oral health in asthma patients can exacerbate asthma symptoms. Inflammation in the mouth can increase the frequency and severity of asthma attacks.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD): COPD is a disease characterised by chronic narrowing of the airways. The spread of bacteria in the mouth into the airways can worsen the symptoms of COPD and contribute to the progression of the disease.
