Diagnosing cracked teeth isn’t always easy. Some cracks may be too small to be seen with the naked eye. One of the most common symptoms is sudden, sharp pain, especially when biting into hard food. The pain may also disappear suddenly when the chewing pressure is removed. Sensitivity to hot, cold, or sweet foods may also accompany the condition. Because the pain isn’t constant, patients may have difficulty identifying which tooth is affected. This can lead to delayed diagnosis.
